A Journey Toward the Dao
☯️ The Value of Extended Practice Some of you may already realize that in practicing Daoist Tai Chi we go on a journey from our ordinary state towards the Dao.
Outer Form and Inner Alchemy ☯️
This transformation has an outer Form and an Inner Alchemy. The yin-yang of stillness-and-movement spiral around each other to cultivate the 3 Treasures of stability, vitality, clarity.
Melting Old Habits ☯️
We create a new habit of increasing warming energy to melt the metaphorical ice that easily re-freezes into old habits. If we’re re-frozen we often dont even remember the experience (or even the possibility) of having changed/unfrozen!
Staying Unfrozen Through Practice ☯️
With practice we accumulate familiarity and confidence in the healing power of the Form. We face the challenge of not returning to the frozen state.
When starting on any journey you can always go back and start again at any time; and sometimes you can forge ahead into new territory.
The Real Power of the Form ☯️
It’s partly about learning new movements, and partly about realising that the Form is a useful tool whose real power comes from applying it – however many or few movements we know!
Cultivation Takes Time ☯️
We can take our time over it. Cultivation takes time because growth in nature is a gradual process. With enough time we can fully settle into the changes we cultivate. In time we may come to realise we’re becoming ourselves more truly.
Along the way we have enough time to fully appreciate the change that is being cultivated ☯️
